[W126 Coupe] ? for markus, jono, or dick and/or anyone else

i forget what its called...it sits right up front on the engine.  the markings say VDO.  i know you guys will know what it is...anyhow my question is the one on my car has a part number the one i was going to replace with doesn't although it does have a number 408.202/010/002.  this is the same number on original except for for the last number is 001.

also on one end of these parts there is a stamp, on the replacement part its a circle with 02 and 6 above it.   on the original the circle looks like a clock and number above looks like 7 or 1.  question is are they compatable?  the replacement i believe came off of a 420 or 560 sel.  i can't remember.

the other question...the electrical connection this VDO hooks up to has the numbers 1 and 2 but the VDO doesn't have a corresponding number?  does it matter how its connected.

oh one more thing...can these VDO's just be cleaned out with some kind of cleaner?
