Hey Mike,
This is a totally different beast, built ground-up to be an AMG sports car from the beginning, not something they converted from an existing platform.
However, I noted that of the 4 invitees who had placed an order, 2 of the decided not to go forward after driving it. These guys already had a SL63 AMG and said that was more than adequate for their use. The other two also had an SL63 but wanted this to add to their collection.
The bargain is still the C63 AMG. Very stealth and can be put through the paces and has 4 doors.
Cheers
Shin

HI Shin,
This reminds me of the ride you gave me in your 56.

I was fortunate to be in Laguna Seca to attend the AMG Driving Academy this past weekend.
I got to drive the SLS in anger, not just cruise like Dan Neil. It was built for aggressive driving.
It accelerates, corners, handles all very balanced and hard to make a mistake in.
For a big wide car, it is very nimble and easy to toss around.
The unusual (and not good looking) long hood and short deck design was the result of engineering a rear weight bias resulting in better handling.
The production car will have a strap so closing the door will be easier.
