Doug is absolutely right on several counts.  One correction:  A EURO Gen I
Car (82-85) is faster than most US Stock Gen II 560's (86-91) if it was
properly converted.  However do ANYTHING to a 560 Motor and you can quickly
top that.  One other point (And this is splitting hairs) is that these cars
top out around 160 and can go to 150 in that same blink of an eye.  At least
mine can.  I have a '91 560 SEC, and I live here in LA.  I also was in the
car business for 10 years and I did a complete restoration HERE:

As Doug very correctly pointed out, The SEC series is one of the most prized
cars that a Mercedes Collector can have.  It CAN BE expensive to maintain,
but worth every penny.  The satisfaction I get from driving mine is
immeasurable.  Let your Husband drive it until your son is mature enough to
know what he has under his foot.  And I mean more than just the Horsepower.
You Father-In-Law gave him a magnificent gift, one that should remain in
your family until it succumbs to rust many, many years from now.
