[W126 Coupe] MBCOUPES Digest, Vol 58, Issue 19 Lisa and Coupe in LA

Hi Lisa, It will be difficult for anyone to give you an opinion without
seeing the car as others have explained but for my two cents I can tell you
that the SEC is a very , very nice car, very powerful and very fast. If I
recall, the 1990 SEC was the fastest production car built in 1990 and I
think the '84s were a higher horse power. Others on the site will be more
accurate. The '84 is one of the most valuable of the series of the SEC
marque that ran through '91. It is also NOT a European model so that is a
good thing. I just want to caution you that this car will hit 125 MPH in the
blink of an eye going down MoPac or I-35 and that is not the top end. And,
at 125 MPH it feels like you are going 75 mph. If your son is very
responsible, ( I'm lucky, my 19 year old is) and does not drive fast
...much. Of course you don't have a sense of your son's driving habits yet
so you won't know. Theses cars are meant for the Autobahn and most of us
that own them wish we had an Autobahn. If your son likes this "Gentleman
Muscle Car" he will have a wonderful car but probably not a car he can learn
to work on if that is of interest to him. There are some great MB shops in
Austin to help you maintain the Coupe. We lived in Austin for many years and
are now in Houston.

If you decide to bring thre Coupe to Austin, let me know as I have a
transport contact that I have used personally that runs from LA to Houston,
Dallas , is ecnomical by today's standrds, well insured. I have recomended
him to several folks for transport. Most were classic show quality cars.

Good luck

Doug in Houston
