Camran,

After 20-30 minutes of driving, its hot enough to check. Yes, on a level surface, car in park, engine still running, pull the dipstick and see where its at. If between the two lines, you are good. If below the bottom line, need to add. But don't add too much at a time...for example, I recently checked and my one car was at the bottom line so I decided to "top it off". I think I only had to add 2-3 ounces to get it to the top line, which isn't much at all. Underfilled isn't good, but neither is overfilled.

Markus- When hot on level ground; should the engine be running in park? Does it have to be really hot; what I mean is after a long trip or as long as it is running at a normal temp (say after 20 miles)? Does it make sense to run the shilt lever through all the gears?

Thanks,
Camran

When hot, parked on a level surface, fluid should be between those two lines.
