If you are talking about the output shaft seal, it shouldn't be all that
expensive, but it does take a special socket to take off the flex disk
coupling on the output shaft.
If your flex disks and carrier bearing haven't been replaced recently,
it'd be easy to do them while there, as they would likely already be
disconnected from the car to allow space to do the transmission output
shaft seal.
All that being said, the only pinion shaft seal that I know of by that
name is the front seal on the differential. I'm not sure just how much
of a pain it's going to be, but I'm about to do mine, since two of the
three diff seals are leaking on my car.
