Gary,
Sure sounds like the push button control is going south or the vacuum
switching valve is failing. You can test the vacuum switching valve
after removing pass side carpet and lifting the acc pushbutton wood trim
forward. Need a mighty vac to test each vacuuum lead to the pods in the
dash. Honestly, if the pods are original, you should rebuild them. The
mighty vac will tell you which ones are already leaking easily. Not so
bad if you are operating an SEC with no air bags. If air bags, yeah
it's a bit of effort to get to certain of them.
If you are hearing any clicking from this area when the valves are
moving the air all over the place, it is the pushbutton control.
Rebuilt with 3yr warranty available for $150-175 depending on where you
source it. Requires you test with a meter both the mono-valve and aux
heater pumps for shorts or grounds before putting new unit in place or
warranty is void.
