[W126 Coupe] A/C Question About R12 & R134

The R134 connections are push on (no threads) and the R12 connections are
threaded. Whatcha got??

Just got my 91 SEC back from a trusted Mercedes specialist independent shop
for an A\C charge. He said the car needed a partial charge and the temp now
at the vent was 42 degrees. On the paper work it says he used R134A
refrigerant. As far as I know my system is still R12. There are no tags or
decals saying anything different. Can you put R134 into a R12 system? What
damage can this cause? Its the weekend so I can't verify what he put in
until Monday. Any suggestions?
