[W126 Coupe] need to replace the driver side window motor

Cut a piece of 2 x 4 the correct length and support the window in the up position, worked for me. I found it easier to remove the motor linkage assembly then change the motor out on the bench, And yes I replaced the nylon runner clips, made them myself out of Teflon. Not to difficult a job. Remember on the door panel, do not force, I lifts up and out.

Hi Axel and Gary,

I think you will find that the glass can remain in place on the metal track. (the horizontal track the lift arm nylon glides run in)

Just shim it from the rubber weather seals so it does not drop.

If you able to think backwards, you can remove the holding plate where the motor gears interface with the lift linkage (arm) and replace the motor without dropping the lift out of the door.

If this seems a challenge remove the lift and motor intact and then replace the motor on a bench.

No special tools needed, just normal spanners and wrenches, though some plastic panel removers are nice.

I wouldn't say the job is easy, more of a medium difficulty. It will help a lot of you have the instructions for removing the door panel.

Once the panel is away you just have to remember to remove the glass before you take the mechanism out of the door.
