Forget about Buca di Beppo. Overpriced; overrated; it's now a chain,
so you can skip them in cities all over America. Almost every place
in Seattle is better; great city for food and tons of tourist stuff.
All the other recs below are fine.
My old Seattle girlfriend took me on a semi-romantic train ride which
I am trying to find for you now. Starts at the southeastern tip of
Lake Washington and goes north to a winery. Not much time to spend
at the winery, actually; no real tour, but you get out and look
around and taste a little wine; she bought me a tie. (It was my
birthday.)
Dinner on the way in the train; old-fashioned dinner cars. Pretty
darn cool IMO.
One day in Seattle is not enough. Lotsa breweries, but the best is
right across the tracks from the winery I just mentioned, in
Woodinville...Redhook Brewery. Cool pub. Great outdoor patio.
they'll probably have a band and great food and beer this time of
year. It is outside of Seattle, so it's a destination. Worth the
drive IMO. Especially if you really like beer. I think the brewery
tour is a buck.
You can see this place from where the train goes at its northern stop
and turn-around, but you can't get to it on the train ride. Lake
Washington, btw, is where Bill Gates' mansion is. From the train you
are seeing, essentially, Bill's view and more.
I don't know your age. The hot area for 20-30-somethings is "Bell
Town," and it's closer in. Cab ride from anywhere downtown. Trendy
nightlife, if you're into that.
Very hard to get a bad meal in Seattle. If you've only got one day
and you start at Redhook in Woodinville then dinner on the train or
dinner and dancing in Bell Town, you'll have a great Seattle day.
The Underground Tour is something I never got around to but wanted
to. It is under Pioneer Square (or thereabouts). Pioneer Square is
also happening at night. More blues and beer than Bell Town's
martinis and glitz.
Gee, I miss Seattle!
