IMHO, 18"s don't offer enough sidewall on the tires to absorb rough road surfaces, so they don't have anywhere near the original MB ride quality. Also the W126's suspension wasn't designed to handle the larger size. There had to be a reason that AMG originally only made 17"s to fit.

Also if you are patient (they`re not that easy to find) and push the boat out a little (nor cheap) the three piece AMGs (8.5/10 ET 18/17) look absolutely superb, (just make sure there are no cracks in the centre pieces).
