Rich,

He may very well have been correct.

Mercedes did not offer manual transmissions for any of their V8s, only on their straight-sixes.

However, AMG offered manual transmissions.

I don't rember who the manufacturer was, but it was either Getrag or ZF.

In my 1984 German AMG catalog the manual transmission is offered at 12,500 DM. By comparison, the widebody conversion is 25,000 DM.

Not many clients took the manual transmission option. I've only ever seen one sedan with a stick and never a coupe.Regards, Axel J. Wulff610-731-5453 Cellular610-572-4611 Home

All,

I spoke to a guy this afternoon at the local parts store who said when he was stationed in Germany back in the day, he saw an AMG SEC that had a manual trans! After diplomatically suggesting he was mistaken, the guy swore up and down the car had a stick. I seriously doubt MB produced and optional manual trans SEC for the German market, but did AMG ever offer a stick as an option?
