Josh,
It doesn't matter what the engine has or doesn't have, all that matters is
that the engine (car) has what the emissions sticker on the radiator
bulkhead states. I believe you're right, that the stuff on top doesn't
matter as long as the high-school dropout at the emissions facility can find
the items required by the sticker.
