[W126 Coupe] question for regarding exhaust

I ran my white coupe on an emission machine sans cats for S&G's about 
1000 miles after a going through the top end, timing, injection etc..  
Air Fuel was set w/ a wide band O2, tuned to w/ in an inch of it's 
life.  The emissions numbers we So far out it was laughable.  The old 
cats do quite a bit actually...based on the emissions inspection from 1 
year (and all the above work) prior as the car was squeaky clean.
