[W126 Coupe] Door lock cable

My car loves me too much and doesn't want me to leave.  The driver's side
inside door lock handle does not open the door any more.  I have to lower
the window and use the outside handle.  There is now no resistance on the
inside handle, so I assume that a cable has either broken or become
detached.  How do I fix the problem?
