[W126 Coupe] Question about a 1993 300SD

Is this the same 3.4 L. diesel engine that a year later was in the car called the S350D?
 
The W140's other huge problem appears to have been the wiring harnesses.  I understand that the wiring insulation in all of them (E320 - W124 included) was defective and in later life (now) can cause random intermittent shorts that totally frustrate diagnosis.  The "fix" is new harnesses....  $$$$$$$ that compete neck and neck with the total value of the car!!  
 
Is this right?

It's an engine that was re-maned by the factory with their updated rod design so they don't bend/oval out the cylinders over time.That side, W140's are the polar opposite as far as diagnosing/working on them when compared to the W126.  When items do fail expect to pay handsomely for parts.JonathanFranco wrote:
