Believe it or not, I paid the $17.12 for the ignition key and $17.66 for the valet key at Beverly Hills Mercedes Benz of all places and I thought I got ripped off. The parts counter man said they were cutting these in Texas now.

The old keys aren’t actually laser
cut…that’s just propaganda. Anyway, the prices are all over
the board, from Shin’s $17 to $100+. They used to make them only in
Germany, but they may have moved the machines over here now.
My spare cost me $35 at the dealer.
Regards,
Edward

Because it's laser-cut, most locksmiths can't make it. I
just had mine made by a MBZ dealer. I needed to show the registration and a
driver's license. It was made at a central location in Texas and took two days
and it was expensive $17
