[W126 Coupe] Grill and Hood for 82-91

All SEC hoods were aluminium (380, 420, 500, 560), as well as their trunk lids.
 
On the sedans, it was a bit of a mix, some cars even had steel hoods and aluminium trunk lids, and vice versa.
 
What you shouldn't do is replace one with the other. The steel hood springs will wreck an aluminium hood and the aluminium hood springs will not hold a steel hood. Same problem with the trunk.
