OK, the service might be good, the quality might be good, I'm sure they
are insured. But that is all secondary ... the only thing that really
matters is
Who is the blond? Woah - now that's marketing!!!
It must be the guy's daughter, or he must be loaded.

Alex,
where I live you can get wheels restored - they do a great job. You
might have a better outcome with four fully restored wheels than one
perfect and three warn wheels.
The cost to Seers should be about the same or a little less. I paid
about $400AUS to get mine done - they dismantled the two piece AMG
wheels, machined the rims (where the curb had been slapped by previous
owner - managed to scratch all four wheels), renickled the outer part of
the rim and repainted the inner part.
Worth considering this option if suitable replacement wheel can not be
found.
Robert
Well I knew it was going to happen sooner or later:
I bragged ~ 3 months ago how I got a set of four Genuine 17" AMG rims
for a steal on Ebay. Other than a few very minute scratches on two of
them, look virtually like new. I added a set of 12mm spacers to get the
right offset and I was happy as a pig in ____ to get rid of my old,
pitted original rims. The rims even came with mounted tires, but I knew
I had to replace them. So finally this week-end I went to Sears. I
argued for 15 minutes the "technician" who informed me he is the
premiere expert and will not touch a car with modified hubs with
spacers. They would however put on new tires if I bring in the wheels
alone. So I said OK, you win, went home took them off and brought them
back. Before I let the "technician" take them out of my car I told him -
"these rims are $500/pc from MB. Be careful, lay them down on the back
side only & do not stack them, as the aluminum face protrudes the tire
on the front and will easily get scratched." I'm sure he heard "bla,
bla, bla..."
So he took the first over to his work bench, and before I could get
another word out he drops it on the tire, and it falls flat on the
concrete floor on the outer face. I cold not believe my eyes. He could
not have found a rougher patch of floor to drop it on, and the rim is
cosmetically beyond repair - scratched and pitted beyond belief!!! To
make a long story short, and not relive my aggravation, after 30 minutes
of discussions I got it in writing that Sears will buy me a new rim.
So now it's my problem to find a replacement. I do not know what car
they came off of, but I did find the source below. The question is they
come in "Silver", or "Brilliant Silver". Other than going to my not so
local MB dealer, does anyone know how to tell which is which? They look
silver to me, but what constitutes brilliant??? (certainly not me).
BTW: I put on a set of Goodyear 225, 50s. The outside diameter of this
set-up matches the original perfect and the speedometer is right on the
money with the GPS. Between that and the loose upper control arm bushing
fix, the 89' rides like a dream now. Not hint of any vibration anywhere,
at any speed. Love it. Did not think an 18 year old car could drive this
nice & I get lots of compliments on the new look. Any help on the ID of
the finish is appreciated.
AND BTW(2): I posted the some of the plans for the supercharger project
a few weeks ago, but I don't think it ever made it to the mail-list,
probably due to the attachments. What do I have to do to post this? Last
time Axel posted this on his Web site - Axel are you out there?
Here is where I found the replacement.
