[W126 Coupe] Water Leak update

It looks like I have located the source of the water entering the car and
creating a paddling pool in the right hand side passenger footwell (well,
maybe 75-80% sure). It appears to be the outer seal of the rear windshield
(not the rear side windows). The top to be exact where the roof meets the
top of the windshield outer seal. I did have the rear windshield replaced
about 6 years ago because of the delamination problem, but it has only
recently been leaking (if indeed this is it for sure). I have temporarily
placed a piece of tape right across the top of the rear windshield (bridging
the gap or drain between the roof and the outer seal) and no more paddling
pool. And yes, there has been some really heavy rain and wind since I put
the tape in place for a good test. I can't see any sign of rust in this
area, but it is difficult to see in this small gap. I was wondering if this
can be re-sealed without removing the rear windshield, as I would hate to
fork out for another new one if it were to break while being removed.
Especially as I am not yet 100% certain that this is the culprit. I have
been tempted to just run along this drain with some silicone sealant, but
would prefer to have a more professional job done. If anyone has any ideas
how to re-seal this properly or indeed if would do no harm to just do a DIY
job, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Vance.
