I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 that is a marvelous piece of equipment, as, I'm sure, is the Tom-Tom. FYI, I had a radar detector stuck on the windshield while I lived in CA but since it was suction cup mounted above the rear view mirror, in the extra tinted portion of the windshield, it wasn't visible from outside the car. I added a power jack to the overhead light right there and that eliminated a power cord dropping down.

That interior rear view mirror has a strong mount into the car and I'd bet that a mount clamped to the mirror post would work just fine. Again, power it up into the overhead light.

Mike, just a question.
I like your idea of hooking the GPS via a mount clamped to the interior rear view mirror.
Have you done that? I like to know how you powered it up to the overhead light.
Do you have a write up?

And there is a new law in California. On the first day of the year 2009 we are allowed to attach the GPS to the windshield, but only within 5" vertical and horizontal in the left bottom corner. I wonder if that is possible because of the windshield angle.
