Hi John,
I don't know a way to tell from the numbers, but if familiar with the pad pins & clips it's easy to tell, as there are differences between the Ate & Girling hardware..

Hi everyone,
I have a '92 300 SD and I am about to replace my front and rear brakes including the rotors, sensors, and pads. My question is this..... how do I know whether I have Girling or ATE brake calipers on my car? Is there a key in the VIN#?
