[W126 Coupe] Vacuum pump for 140 chassis

Markus,
Believe it or not, I have had an aftermarket vacuum pump for the last 2 or 3 weeks now. I bought it on ebay, but the seller said it would not operate the central locking from the trunk lock, but it still is working perfectly and now my doors are closing with ease. I just never tried the pump because the seller told me after I had rushed to buy it now, that the pump might not function the same as the original because there were different pumps during that model year and his was not the correct one for my VIN. He had already shipped it out by the time I got his email and asked to cancel it, so I ended up paying just 261 for my vacuum pump closer assist. It all worked out, "LUCKILY!"

John,
You might want to peruse this forum and possibly post your question there as well. It's a dedicated 140 forum and may provide valuable info:

Bellamy,
Thanks for the valuable information. I will try to play coach with my daughter and locate the pump together. I guess it would not be so bad except that someone always gets in or out and leaves a door ajar, and then when they get out and I am the only one left in the car, that is usually when I find out that a door is ajar.

John;
I believe that there is only the one vacuum pump and it is for the central locking AND the "comfort group". If that is the case, the problem may not be the vacuum pump itself, but is in the vacuum system. It must be more complex as I BELIEVE that the vacuum pump for the W140 lists over $1,100 while the central locking (only) one in the 560SEC (for example) lists less than $400.
In any case, all information I have indicates that there is only one and it is under the back seat, right side.
Hello out there, is anybody else familiar with these systems? Personally, I have never had a whole lot of problems closing doors by myself without assistance... opening them however, sometimes is another story.

Bellamy,
I am trying to find the door closer vacuum pump. The central locking works fine, except for one lock which sticks, but I can live with that. I just want the trunk to not look ajar and the doors to close properly with one pull. I have a 92 300 SD and I am trying to locate this pump to see if I can remove it easily or should I turn my 19 year old daughter into daddy's little helper?

John;
I forget what your W140 is. On the 1993 300SD the Supply Vacuum Pump Motor for the central locking system is under the back seat, right side. It would be inside an insulated box of some description. You would access it by lifting the rear seat cushion... somewhere (sides likely) there would be clips/pushbuttons/whatever to unlock the cushion in order to lift and remove it.
The rest of the sensors are likely in the luggage compartment (trunk) right side behind the side trim panel. Hopefully you don't have to look at them.
If I had cranky passengers who couldn't close the doors, I'd put them in the trunk along with the miscellaneous sensors. That would quieten things down considerably.

Hi again everyone;
I am still hunting the elusive vacuum pump for the door and trunk lid closer. Anyone have a "landmark" in the trunk that I can look near? Is it close to the antenna mast? I have looked very briefly, but did not find it. I was hoping to have my daughter pull it out for me since I am still on crutches right now. I then would try to rebuild it with the after market pump that I bought on ebay that I was told was not the correct pump. I love the car, but my passengers seem to not be able to give the darn doors a good slam when they get in and "voila" road noise. I hate road noise! Is the vacuum pump up near the rear shelf in the trunk, or down by the floor on the driver's side? I can at least try to rebuild it while I am sitting home recuperating from knee surgery.
