[W126 Coupe] trunk lock

I've been following this a bit. Lets see if I can help. You need to answer some questions.
1-Did you get the truck unlocked?
2-What happens when you push in the button?
2a-Do you feel any resistance?
2b-Does it just push in?
3-Are you using the correct key?
4-Does the key turn left or right?
5-If you answered answered, Yes to 2b, 3, and no to 4 do the following. It could be one of the pins is stuck in the wrong place.
Push the thin tip that comes with penetrating oil into the lock and spray. Let it sit for a while, then take a small plastic hammer or piece of wood and rap on the button a few times, try turning the key, If no luck, then put the key in and rap the end of it a few times, then try turning the key, with slight force, right and left and see if it starts to move.
Put the key all the way in and pull it back slightly and try turning.
If you answered yes to 2a try pushing down on the trunk lid as someone else suggested.
Let us know if any of this worked.
Good Luck, Iain

You ARE using the square key, not the round one, yes? I certainly don't mean to be insulting. But it's funny how many people NEVER use the round (valet) key for years and then forget what it is for.

Also.... if the tumbler is troublesome, use some Schließzylinderfett.

K.

It's not likely a wiring problem. Mike is likely giving a possible way of getting the trunk open. Put some weight on the trunk lid and rapidly push the button in and let it snap out many times. Does the button actually snap back on its own? If that fails try lifting the lid gently and do the same. If the lock is in the twelve o'clock position it should be unlocked, but the horizontal locking pin may have disconnected or stuck for some reason in the secondary locking hole. (Someone has just included good pictures... can't remember who) You would be hoping that the pin would rattle back (to the right) to the "unlock" position... suddenly the lid would open. That's possibility #1. (there's a couple more)

You say the lock won't turn 90 degrees to three o'clock? That's the "lock" position.
