[W126 Coupe] Engine death rattle ?

Rick,
mine makes that dry rattle noise for around a second when I start it up. I have new timing chain, tensioner and guide rails so that can't be it.
Mine has done around 100k miles. It sounds like upper motor rattle to me, like the tappets running without lubrication.
Goes like a rocket - hi performance European version (word of advice for those who have just purchased the European flier - put newspaper down on the passenger side seat when you take friends for that first ride - otherwise they leave stains...).
