I attended a few Boston games back in the Bird, Mchale, days and it was
the most intense enjoyable experience I have ever had. For the pure
basketball nut Boston was the place to be. The arena was hot and humid
and the floor had several dead spots where the visiting team would
suddenly find the ball bouncing two inches of the floor, amazingly the
Boston players like Dennis Johnson would avoid the dead spots. The fans
were incredible...The only thing that comes close to it is last years
Warriors team that stunned the Mavericks in the first round. I was at
those games( I live in the Bay Area) and it was unbelievable. 20,000
screaming fans on their feet the whole game. You could not hear a thing
and I was hoarse for three days after the games. The best was Baron
Davis's dunk over Kirilenko it was electrifying. Here's to t new NBA
season. Opening game tonight against the Jazz....Go Dub's

And the Celts will win the NBA championship.

Just a quick shout-out to Boston B-ball fans. Years ago while visiting
my brother in grad school in Cambridge during play-off season during the
Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird years, a few of us took a walking tour
around Boston and ended-up stopping for ice cream in the Italian section
of town. The game was on and our Lakers won it--it wasn't the Final
Game, but it was the Finals. The local fans were completely gentlemanly
with us (we had our mom and one of her friends with us). Great fans
with a great attitude even in the heat of "battle" during one of the
great rivalries in American sports.

Congrats to all of you "back East" for your current winning ways, and
I'm hoping my So.Cal. teams will renew their prowess and provide the
proper level of competition soon. ...except USC, against whom I am
always rooting! ; )
