Bad cell in battery or corroded battery terminals.

ignition module also check the wires to the module mine did the same thing and one of the big wires was broken

I'd still go with the voltage regulator idea, especially if the year-old
in there now is an aftermarket product. Mine died, same symptoms, on the
way to a Kansas City MBCoupes Fest a few years ago, and I almost missed
the opening Captain Morgan's!

The alternator itself is darned near indestructible.
