Just for my 2 cents from another perspective that may give some hope for
finding your dream car a little closer to home I'd like to share my
experience last August. I was very fortunate and I wish similar results
to anyone looking for one of these fine automobiles.

With persistence, timing and luck I found my '90 560 SEC 10 miles away
on a Lexus car lot. The 83 year old original owner traded it in on a
smaller car a Lexus 300 something or other that had back seats large
enough for his teenage grandchildren to ride with him. He bough the car
as a retirement gift to himself in the fall of '89 and proceeded to roll
up a whopping 4500 miles per year for a total of 71,000 miles. The car
is show quality generally speaking with a few flaws but you have to look
for them and the interior is perfect. The car is smoke silver over cream
beige. It was a showroom order so it's got lots of goodies as far as
trim, the gold lettering , chrome wheels, you get the picture.

When I called the dealer after seeing the car on the dealer's Internet
site it had been there one day. When I tried it out, with the dealer
sales woman in tow, neither of us could get the air to blow cold and the
tires were out of balance so in August in Houston at 99 degrees, no air
and a rough ride we returned quickly to the dealership. Since the sales
woman was convinced that the air was not working ( it was, we just did
not know what buttons to push) and she was convinced it needed front end
work she admitted that this car at 17 years old and all of these
"problems" would be at the wholesale auction in two days. I asked her to
ask her boss if he would wholesale it to me and I promised that they
would never see me again with complaints. I bought the car as is and
took it to my MB mechanic, with a tune up, new belts, tires balanced and
a hand full of other smalls to be addressed I paid him less than $1000
and I drive the car every day in my outside sales job. I'm almost, I say
almost ashamed to share with you that I paid $6500 for the car. So ,
they are out there, it's just timing and luck so good luck to you SEC
hunters out there.
