[W126 Coupe] Air Conditioning Diagnosis

Based on what I read, sounds like what mine did a couple of years ago. It
would work, for a while then go hot. Just as you described. And assuming
your mono is good, and your push button climate control unit is working. And
your elect fans are working- Then your answer maybe this:

I gave up and took it to the stealership. Turn out that it was the A/C
E.T.R. Switch. Which stands for evaporator temperature. New ones are
around 70 bucks. I'd try that. Its location is down by the gas pedal if
memory serves me right. Fixed my problem. That's what it looks like below.

If you hear clicking in your consol, its the bush button climate control
unit failing, this will cause all kind of wacky cool, heat, heat only or
straight stuck on defrost... Sounds like it coming from the center of the
dash. Little clicks, every now and then, and only when you have the ac on
does it do it?
