You might also check the OVP relay. If it is going bad, it will sometimes cause the ABS light to flicker and even cause the ABS to kick in at very low speeds. IIRC the ABS normally shouldn't even activate at speeds below 15 mph. Jay

Hi Jack:
On my 86 euro sedan, I simply cleaned the abs sensors with a tooth brush during the R&R of front wheel bearings and races and this eliminated the sometimes unexpected abs activation on braking. ABS light on the dash has never come on however so you may well have other problems. You should be able to access those sensors and clean them up to see if that helps. I'd check the cable as well for nicks or cracks.
