[W126 Coupe] ABS

MY 86/420 pulls up in jerks & grunts when I am rolling to a gently braked 
stop. My mechanic says this is a feature that he can't fix. The ABS dash 
light is on most of the time & seems to light up & go out at will. I think 
that an 86 model might have an early unsophisticated version of ABS & I 
might be better off if it can be disabled. Would appreciate advice. Jack OZ
