[W126 Coupe] chrome

There is currently a thread on this subject at benzworld.org in the W126 forum. Basically it entails stripping the damaged anodizing, polishing and then putting a protective coating on the trim. The aluminum trim without either being anodized or clear coated will oxidize in a very short period of time after being polished.

Cord – The “chrome” is actually polished aluminum with a clear coat. The only chrome is on the bumpers. After getting ridiculous replacement prices from the local MB dealership I searched the internet for days and only found one firm that restores the trim for a very reasonable price, about $15 per foot.
