I've removed the memory switches in the latter year MB 126 chassis
sedans without doing a full door panel removal.  This is not possible on
the early model years where the switch is directly soldered to the wire
harness (loom).  There is a risk (small) of damaging the wood trim if
you are not careful.  In any event, the door plastic bezel is removed
followed by the metal cage then the switch cover.  You can then see the
two screws inside the door panel that hold the switch in place and
remove with a magnetic screwdriver. Then it's pull the switch up and out
at an angle to access the plug-in harness.  I use a pick to hold the
harness while the new switch is plugged in.  Then re-assemble the door
bezel.

This procedure should work on your coupe door I should think.

That's it.

Dick,

How do you remove the plastic trim without damaging the wood?
I have a clean used switch and I tried to slide a credit card to remove the
plastic trim with no luck.

Thanks
Jack
