Hi,
I have a 1987 560 SEC euro with what I think is a small electrical problem. I get a chirping noise from the air conditioning system/console. Everytime I use the brake when moving, it stops instantly, returning when I release. It doesn;t stop when not moving if I use brake pedal. It seems worse when using cooling function rather than heating. I thought it was the fan touching something or the fan bearing but because of the brake action I'm not so sure. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Eric

YES! I just talked to Mike Salemi, MB pres around these parts to
coordinate for tentatively the 2nd weekend of July. He is to confirm with
us and at that time we can solidify that weekend. Otherwise, we can push
for the 3rd weekend in July.

Ivan,
I'm not sure what size rotors you have, but most benefit is achieved with a larger diameter rotor from stock and then from there some 4 piston calipers. The stock brakes are awesome given they are stuffed in that tiny 15" wheel. Of course, if you have 17" wheels, you can go to a 13" rotor and 18" wheels would allow for a 14" rotor which would yield the most "BRAKE TORQUE". If the pistons in the calipers are sized properly, front to rear, there would be no need for a proportioning valve. From there, all you need is the appropriate brackets and SS braided brake lines.
I have a set of 14" drilled and slotted rotors with Wilwood 4 piston calipers front and rear that I have yet to install. Just haven't got around to it. They were made by Precision Brake Co. which I believe is now Revolution Brake LLC. Daryl Armstrong was the contact there. I haven't seen any posts from him lately. Still around Daryl...?
I will post some information when I have installed mine. Hopefully it will all work out. In theory, it does for now anyway... ;-)
I'm surprised Satish hasn't upgraded his brakes to WHOE down that V12 monster, but maybe that will be the surprise at this years Detroit meet! Any finalized date on that Satish...?
Good luck,
Sam

I?ve got a 1989 560 SEC with 34K miles and want to totally
replace the brake system. I already have slotted/drilled
zinc coated rotors. What else would you recommend and from
where?

I own a 1989 560SEC (80k miles) and have a problem with an oil leak.
Specifically, a valve cover(passenger side) gasket to head leaks oil at lower rear
just above where the exhaust begins to turn down toward rear of car. A new
gasket was installed but did not fix the problem. The cover appears not to be
warped and no light shows through on flat surface. Is there a sealant that will
seal aluminum to rubber or is there something that I may be missing.
Also can the auto head rests be removed to install sheepskins with pre
formed holes without taking apart upper part of front seat? Any help is
appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay K.
