[W126 Coupe] Help - Dead spot in accelerator

Hi Jack:

Assuming the rotor, cap and wires are all in fine shape, I'd suspect a
fuel related issue. Does not sound like the coil either. I had almost
exactly the same experience on an 86 300SE. Turned out that the fuel
pressures were off and I, with some number of PIA adjustments to the
EHA, got the differential pressure back in spec and restored
performance. Could also be a bad fuel pump, bad accumulator or bad fuel
regulator. In short, all fuel tests need to be run to isolate the
problem then effect the repair. No easy way to fix until you diagnose
on the fuel side of the beast. You need a set of gauges (about $70 US,
I can look up the source if you need it) or a mechanic that can do the
tests.
