[W126 Coupe] Help - Dead spot in accelerator

Hi All,

On my 89 560 SEC when driving and pushing down on the gas pedal I have 
recently noticed a dead spot in the middle of travel.
The car accelerates well up to about 1/3 pedal down and then from 1/3 to a 
little more than 2/3's it does nothing, it is flat.
If I am cruising and I slowly use the gas pedal it is fine in all spots.
This just occurs when I have to get a move on.
What should I look for?
I just did oil, plugs, air filters.
I also had to do rear brakes again as I was surprised that they only lasted 
13,000 miles.
I didn't use Me/Be OEM this time.
