Hey Mike,
I have this same problem and I tried what you said (the screwdriver thing) and my car did idle better for lik one sec then it went back up to 1k rpm. So I would like to know how to repair the ICV.
Thank You,
Hovsep

If that makes the idle run up or down, then it has the generic internal broken wire. If so, you have a couple of choices. A new ICV is several hundred dollars, dont know what a used one costs, or you can fix yours for free.
Let me know if you have a broken wire in the ICV. Its not hard to take it apart and resolder the wiring.
Later,
Mike R.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] HI IDLE
Hello All,
I just replaced the original steel fuel injectors with brand new shiny brass ones along with new seals, holders and air tubes. Also put in new Beru spark plugs. Engine now runs nice and smooth but now have intermittent high idle. Tried cleaning out the idle control valve with carb cleaner with no appreciable effect. Do I need a new idle control valve or is there another culprit to hunt down?
