no, you just did not include the first three characters, "WDB", that all German-built Benzes have. 

So I added that and then ran the VIN.

  A forum member emailed me in private questioning the VIN.  He noted that Carfax requires a 17-character VIN and obviously the VIN below is not 17 in length.  Could I have gotten the VIN wrong?
