What Jonathan said! A friend had this done - '91 560SEC engine into an 84
500SEC by BergWerks in LA (now out of business). They got it done but said
they would NEVER do another one. WAY too much changes needed to wiring,
computers, etc. 

Fix the 500 engine, drop in an LS1, but unless you like the Marquis De
Sade, don't do the later model MB engine.

I am going to rebuild the 560 motor and use the heads and the rest of
the components off the 500, what I was concerned about was the
electronics, like the idle control unit etc.

Is the 560 a euro or US motor?  If so, why are you thinking of doing the
switch?  I think the euro 500 has about the same hp as the US 560 motor.
Now if it was a euro 560 motor....!
