To those looking for a "Garage Queen":
Because of old age, mine, I can no longer enjoy the fantastic qualities that I bought this car to enjoy. I ordered it in 1984 from an MB dealer in France, and had it shipped it to Jacksonville.
To clarify my first post, the car is a gray market model. It came with 245 SAE hp, and 300 lb-ft of torque. It is basically stock, with original Euro equipment (lights, bumpers), except for a change in the rear axle ratio. I replaced the 2.24:1 ratio with a 2.82:1 ratio, and the 14" alloys to 15" alloys used on the 1989 560 SEC.
The car has 110,000 miles on it. It is midnight blue with beige leather interior. I have the purchase order and option selection sheets, as well as the EPA and DOT docs that made it US legal. It has French bells and whistles: ultrasonic glass breakage detector, vibration sensor, and separate alarm siren and horns. I have every record, from purchase, through its maintenance and repair.
The car has its original 245 hp, even with the cats. With a calibrated speedometer, it reached 138 mph before I ran out of empty expressway.
The car is just shy of showroom condition. Jonathan Hodgman has seen the car. Last spring, he showed me how to get rid of a varying idle speed during the first few minutes after a cold start. Perhaps he would not mind vouching for its appearance. The car is a "garage queen", and I want to sell it to someone who wishes to keep,it that way.
Very detailed photos available for serious inquiries. I want it to have a good home.
Thanks,
Zachary
