These systems certainly smooth out the roughness of any road surface resulting in a beautifully stable ride. It also compensates for uneven loads. For example if you ever need to stuff your mother-in-law in the trunk, the car will reset perfectly level and nobody will be any the wiser. (It actually doesn't have to be the mother-in-law... it can be anybody who fits in the trunk!) I'm sure other list members here have much greater knowledge of the systems than I. My experience is limited to one SEL and a 300TD.

excuse the ignorance related to the car. does the hydraulics make the ride better as opposed to some other system? does it actually make the car drop lower during highway drives? she really seems to ride nice on the highway and seems to suck down to the road.
maybe it's my imagination. amazing ride, especially for an 1983.

I think the four wheel pneumatic suspension was only available on the gen 2 sedans
