I fully support your opinion, Nick.
Every time they create a new monster, you have to get closer to find out who created that piece of metal on four wheels.
You always recognize a MB, Jaguar, Bimmer, Porche or even a Corvette.

I am not a mechanic either yet I m an automotive-aesthetics enthusiast and I strongly believe that Japanese cars should be taxed heavily on their uglyness. As tools they may be okay but as cars they can only be considered as aesthetic pollutants, hurting the eye and disheartening our hopes for random visual pleasures (ie oldtimers, exotics). As for their makers, it takes a deviant perspective of reality to the point of psychopathology to authorize the steps in the creation of such abominations!

I am not a car mechanic, but I have had probably more than 40 cars since the first Ford Fairlane 500 1959 and that was in 1963. But never a Japanese car, though I have to admit that in those countries where compulsory annual vehicle inspections are done and they publish the statistics; Toyota comes out as top in most countries as reliable and with less fault, MB normally comes 5th or 6th, but I do stick to MB, I think about half of the cars I had have been MB.
