Actually, the gear indicator lights on both an SEC and a 6.3 light
up. THere is a bulb behind them (underneath the shift plate) that
provides the light. However, they stay constantly lit when the
lights are on.

The 1992-1994 500E/E500, stay lit in a dim light, but the specific
gear that the car is in, is highlighted with a brighter light, so it
tells you at a glance what gear you are in. Hella cool. Would be a
rad mod for an SEC if you ask me.

Cheers,
Gerry
