[W126 Coupe] Gear Selection Labels: Do they light up?

Hi Jeff:

Yes, I know where you can get the cd-rom manual which you will need if
you plan on keeping the SEC. Yes, the light switch if it's a euro with
the vacuum controlled headlight elevation dial to the right of the
switch has a 1.2 watt lamp holder in the plastic bezel that lights up
this switch area as well as a second 1.2 watt bulb in the knob that
lights only when running both the front and rear fogs. One pull is
front fogs (no knob lighted) and the second harder pull turns on the
single fog lamp at the rear driver's side (orange center on knob will be
lighted). These two features will only be apparent on a true euro.
I've been using the local autoparts store replacement bulbs from
Sylvania. The bulb # is: 2721 and they come in a package of (2).

I would not recommend going to anything other than the OEM wattage. As
appealing as they look, the 2.3 watt bulbs #2723 others have indicated
will cause too much heat and melt the plastics. I do not know this for
sure and I'm not inclined to find out if it's true. So, just pick up a
few packages of the 2721 bulbs from Sylvania.

I'll send you an off-list email with the details of the cd-rom manual
that is no charge to $20 US depending on where you get it.

Regards,

Dick
