[W126 Coupe] Starter ring gear?

Hi Mike:

Anyway the new starter has a bad solenoid? You know the trick have
someone hit the ignition switch while you are under there tapping the
starter or solenoid body with a tool or hammer if you can reach the
darned thing. Or is it possible that the alignment where the ring gear
is sent through the bell housing to connect with the flywheel is off a
bit? Sure seems like a lot of work having to drop the tranny if it's
one of the above. Just my 2.
