I'd say do what's reasonable to make it look great, without doing actual
paint or bodywork.

Spending $200 on paintless dent removal, $150 on professional quality
touch-up, $300 on wet sanding, and $200 on full detail will get you back
$2K+ on the sale price. It's essentially the difference between the low and
high end of your sale price estimate.

That's a pretty good investment, not to mention you getting to enjoy the
fruits of your labor until you actually sell the car.

You'd also be amazed if I told you how many people I convinced to spend the
$900 above, but then they fell in love with the car again and kept it.
