Like I said, put a good fuel additive/cleaner in her and run it on the
highway.

Subject: Re: [W126 Coupe] Hard start
Well, I had the problem with cold start, and was first told it probably
was the cold start valve, then next advice was the fuel pumps; and then
I took it to the local MB dealer/garage and they told me that the fuel
injectors needed to be replaced; that the cold start valve needed to be
replaced and also the fuel pumps and for this they wanted R13.000 (about
USD2.000), I told them that I will think about it and book a new time,
they charged me R1.350 (about USD150) for the diagnosis. Then when I
came outside the garage and was going to cross the road I nearly had an
accident because the car barely moved fore ward, even with the
accelerator pressed as hard as I could, the workshop is on the first
floor, the car couldn't get up of his own, it had to be towed, they
spent 2 hours, and told be that the cruise control unit had to be
replaced, another R5.000 (USD750), they took it for a test-drive And
claimed it now worked properly. The following day I could only get it up
to 70 km/h (45mph) and in uphill struggling to get it faster than 20kmh.
Back to the MB workshop, they spent another 2 hours and finally the guy
discovered that they had mixed the rods (the one from the cruise control
unit to the lower and the one from the accelerator to the upper, instead
of the other way around) during this time the manager came and he told
me that he did his learner ship on the 560 engine, and he loosened the
injector pipes, (while he run the engine on high rev, knocked on them
with the spanner, tightened the nut again, did all 8) he suggested I
should put a fuel cleaner in full tank and 'blow out' on the highway.
The car went perfectly and has no problem with cold start any longer.
