[W126 Coupe] FW: Thoughts on engine rebuilders?

Remember, I'm in a 380. Wouldn't it take a lot to put a 560 on that? Like new injection, ignition, etc etc? Maybe I should just save up more than I planned and bring it to you ha :-)

I'd be astounded were my machinist not in business by the time you graduate..baring some catastrophe!
As for having cores, coming up w/ a good M117 block is not in the least bit difficult..I know joe has @ least two beautiful short blocks @ his shop now w/ no one's name on them. If I was going to have him build up an engine from scratch I'd go w/ a Euro repair size 2 piston running either the AMG, ECE or custom grind cam along w/ the tri y's.

And why a 500 block ? why not run a 560 short block w/ your 500 bits strapped on?

Jonathan

Also, I don't plan on having an engine to give the person, so it needs to be a place that has 500 blocks.

I hear ya, it's just that considering my time frame on this, (need to be out of school first most likely), I'm worried about these old guys who've been at it for a while dropping dead.

I don't have any experience w/ Noel's engines so I don't feel comfortable commenting on them.. the last metric Euro engine I dyno'ed made 234HP @ the rear wheels...this was a supposed 300HP variant w/ the correct EZL/headers etc, etc.. Considering that on the Very same dyno my US spec white coupe w/ Euro Tri Y's made 227 I find that pretty piss poor.

The only engines I recommend are the one's I use...and those are the one's from my machinist in NY..the same machinist that is used by the pinnacle of high end (Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Lotus....) dealerships in the tri state area. He's been @ it for over 30 years, it's him and him alone and not once in 20 years of doing business has an engine/head/crank etc. come back anything less then perfect.

I remember Jonathan saying the last time he dyno'd a metric motors engine it came up way short. I wonder what he (and any others in the know) have to say about Noels rebuilds?
