Hi James,
I understand your problem, my brother is in a wheelchair since a diving
accident some years ago.
Every year Motor Trend magazine includes a special on modifications to car
avaiable for the handicapped and some of the chairs I have seen there would
provide the functionality that you are looking for.
I usually send these specials to my brother so I don't have any around, but
you should be able to obtain a reprint from Motor Trend.
However, the people who know what is available in Australia would be your
local handicap clubs, automobile associations or healthcare authorities.
Fitting these devices to your car requires specialized skills and these
places work mostly on minivan-type vehicles.
You've already fitted hand controls to your vehicle so the place that did
this for you would be a good start.
Best of luck.
