[W126 Coupe] Question for the electrically inclined

I have air horn in addition to the factory horns in my car. I switch between them using a toggle switch that is where the factory fader goes. I recently took this out and put it into a new piece of center console wood, but I forget which wire goes to which prong on the switch (two wires, two prongs). It seems no matter which I put to which it works the same. Is this possible?

Yes, that is exactly right.  Effectively, the switch either connects the two wires together or holds them apart.  This is no different to you holding the two wires, one in each hand (the off position) and then holding the wires together so that the two copper ends touch (the 'on' position).  Only when switches have two or more connections does the order matter - there are very few exceptions and none in the MB that I can think of.
